The Journey of a Cult can be defined by distinct phases.

1. The Grand Vision

An inspiring figure or figureheads introduce an innovative concept pledging a panacea for disconnected individuals.

So here we are. Preparations are underway to storm the compound in Australia. Tensions are rising. Smoke is rising from the sidelines. A lone figure, vulnerable, anxious, the phrase ATTACKING MINDSET displayed prominently as a statement, has come staggering into view and is taken aside under a blanket towards an inconclusive loan stint in county cricket.

Remember the start, when optimism reigned? The days of Bazball 1.0, of uninhibited aggression.

2. Initial Adoration

Team architects promise a reboot, a brighter tomorrow, love, success among a group united in belief in the method.

What was this thing back then? A team united feeling good. Tattoos. Muscles. Jawlines. Elite male wellness energy. Admittedly, The team will claim they don’t use the label, ironically since it’s not recognized, what was that spectacle?

However, everyone understands what it is. It’s the player executing a stroke so depraved it defies description. It’s the thrill of the leader at his peak, a demeanor suggesting: thoughtful warrior, beard made of wood, natural look, genuinely raw you wouldn’t be surprised to glance over and see him playing in the field stripped to the waist and cradling a wild salmon.

It’s the opener continuing to have permission addressing the media, appearing as a happy little woodland creature formally attired, saying stuff like we’re challenging norms. Certainly, the vibe, for a significant period, was entirely positive.

3. The Growth Phase

Building period. Unity enforced through repetition of mantras. These beliefs are often illogical to prove commitment.

Am I alone? The criticism, the outrage, the sense of betrayal post-defeat seems too strong, unwarranted. The performance was poor on the field, as is typical there. They were dominated while bowling during a brief period as plans unraveled, manipulated by Travis Head imitating their style effectively, responsive to the situation, a performer excelling with a kind of light around him.

Currently, we see the attacks, the frustration, the perception of the team as a failure. Live where your feet are. Embrace challenges. But no matter how fast and far you run, you’re always basically in the same place.
