A man who spiked sweets with sleeping medication and gave them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two boys both nine and 10.

The defendant was taken into custody after eight youngsters and one adult experienced illness at the facility in July.

The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.

Yet, he denied one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was involving a young boy.

The defendant was held in detention prior to a further hearing on late November.

'Treat game'

Mary Prior KC, handling the case, described the defendant's actions to the judicial body.

She stated his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer program which he managed.

Ruben conducted a "candy game" with the minors, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and request they to consume candy "as fast as possible".

She stated to the judge Ruben had conducted this practice with the young males "for many years", and children had previously become sick the subsequent day.

She stated the defendant had been able to explain this for many years as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had concerns in recently.

The prosecutor stated further: "Recently" his family member had worries about the activities, for good reason.

"They resolved" to have a look in the individual's items."

The prosecutor said items including lubricant, ointment and medical needles were found, and his stepchild notified the police about his concerns.

She stated the man proceeded to engage in the "treat game" with six youngsters that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.

"Authorities" had not arrived by that time," she added.

The regulatory agency, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was investigating the police response of the events.

The legal representative explained the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the family member contacted the law enforcement again.

She explained the defendant then conducted the "candy game" in a space of five youngsters.
